"With God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26

It is with sad regret that I found out about
Gerry Kulwicki's passing on
Sunday, February 10, 2008.

Gerry was a warm and kind man, who was supportive of his family, and of Alan.
They lived through alot of hard times together
like the loss of his wife -Alan's mother, Alan's brother, and Alan's Grandmother.

But, a ray of hope was renewed when Miss Thelma
came into the picture and married Gerry. She brought sunshine, love, and gentle wizdom to he & Alan's world.

They lived happily in Alan's old house in Charlotte until the day he passed away.  Walking through the garage area, I still hear people that know Alan talk about him and his dad. One of the engine tuner's on Robby Gordon's team told me that Gerry is STILL one of the best that the sport has seen.  When I told Gerry that, he smiled a huge grin and said, "Really???".... Gerry could not believe that with all of the young men and women in NASCAR--with their education and talent, that he-- yes HE, was still noted for being one of the best.

Gerry often told me about his times with USAC at the Old Trenton Speedway in Trenton, NJ, and the Langhorne Speedway in Pennsylvania, which is now Reedman Auto Dealers.  It made me smile to think of home and to know that my dad probably saw Mr. Kulwicki in the pits at Trenton!

Mr. Kulwicki, it was a pleasure knowing you. It's the week before Daytona and Alan must have needed a good crew chief!  I'm so happy that the both of you are reunited in the love and light of Jesus Christ....

Thanks for the memories...

Amen....

HAPPY 53rd BIRTHDAY
-
ALAN KULWICKI

December 14, 2007 marks the 53rd birthday of the 1992 NASCAR Winston Cup Champion, Alan Kulwicki from Greenfield, Wisconsin.

For those who don't know, Alan came from a racing family. His father, Gerry built engines for USAC, so, his skill was honed at a young age. Gerry Kulwicki's name is also uttered throughout the garage today--and spoken with the upmost dignity and respect. Gerry was known for his excellent work and skill, and so was his son, Alan, who is, notably, one of the best set up men that have ever graced the NASCAR Garage. Alan continued on to the University of Wisconsin where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering and raced in the ASA series part time--combining his racing knowledge with his college education.

In 1986, he decided to move down South to pursue his dream to race in NASCAR and to become "Rookie of the Year", in which he succeeded.

Inbetween 1986 and 1991, he landed various on again, off again sponsors--begging for hotel rooms, places to stay, and running out of pocket on a shoe string budget. Finally, in mid 1991, he landed a really good sponsor--Hooters Restaurants. He had a Cinderella season, winning the Winston Cup Title in 1992, beating Bill Elliott by 10 points.

However, our Champion's life was short lived, dying in a plane crash at age 39 on April 1, 1993.

So here's to you, Alan, and all of us that have stood beside you in blood, sweat and tears...and worked for free, and faith, that the UNDERBIRD would ride around that track in glory...BACKWARDS!

Happy 53rd Birthday...we all still love you and miss you....
